Title 1 Program Abstract

James Faulkner Elementary School is a small rural school of approximately 74 students serving Kindergarten through grade 5. We have a fluctuating population making our Title I allocation subject to significant variation. Our program therefore focuses its limited resources on identifying students in grade 2-5 that would benefit from short term instructional support to give them a significant boost in confidence as they head into the summer. For this reason we utilize our funding at the end of the year based upon test results from the Fall NECAP and Winter NWEA assessments.

Once students have been identified, our interventionist works with these students either before school or after school in order to ensure that these students do not miss any classroom instruction.  Goals are established in consultation with the classroom teachers. Because of our small size informal communication with the students’ parents take place naturally and the parents are kept abreast of the work being done.
